Whether you're a beginner or a pro – with the XC Tracer Maxx II, you'll fly more intuitively than ever before. It's not that XC Tracer variometers are only for professionals; quite the opposite. Pros like Chrigel have been flying for so long that it doesn't make much of a difference to them if the variometer's beeps and what you feel don't match up. For pilots with less flying experience, flying with an XC Tracer Maxx II becomes an intuitive experience. Because what the variometer displays with its beeps and what you feel correspond perfectly.

Maximum precision

Conventional variometers have the disadvantage that climb and sink rates are always displayed with a more or less significant time delay. The XC Tracer Maxx II combines data from various sensors using a complex mathematical process, eliminating this time delay. Thanks to the instantaneous display of climb/sink rates, finding and centering thermals with a Maxx II is much easier than with a conventional variometer.

And you can adjust the tones of the variometer however you like; please use our tone simulator for this.

Maximum intuition

Minimalist displays on the screens enable intuitive flying. Icons instead of text ensure effortless interpretation – no need to read a manual. We designed the screens for maximum readability – a quick glance is all it takes to grasp the essential information, allowing you to focus on the airspace and the flight itself. The display uses a specially tempered glass that eliminates distracting reflections while remaining highly durable.

You can choose which screens you want to display. The following screens are available:

Simple: Analog variometer, digital variometer, altitude, ground speed, compass

Standard features: Analog variometer, digital variometer, altitude, ground speed, compass, wind, glide ratio, flight time

Thermals: Analog variometer, digital variometer, altitude, wind, thermal assistant, altitude curve of the last 30 seconds

Buddy: Displays altitude, vario, position and status of up to 8 buddies, plus the position and status of up to 100 Flarm devices.

Airspace: Side and top view display, zoom levels can be selected. Screen update rate is up to 10Hz, warnings are integrated.

The screens are fixed and cannot be changed. Features for competitions and cross-country flying are not currently planned, as everyone flies with a tablet using XCTrack anyway.

Maximum social

You can always see where your buddies are. The Maxx II has a built-in FANET system including FLARM, meaning it can also receive data from other FANET devices. If you see a friend at the launch site and want to add them as a buddy, it's easy with just a few clicks of the red button. The buddy's vario with FANET simply needs to be switched on and they need to be no more than 30 meters away.

You can add up to 8 buddies, so you always know how far away they are, their altitude, and their vario readings are also transmitted. And you can also see whether each buddy is still flying or not.

And finally, your buddies' positions are continuously saved. In the worst-case scenario, if a buddy doesn't show up in the evening, you can check your XC Tracer Maxx II to see where your buddy was when a FANET signal was last received. You'll find latitude, longitude, altitude, and status. This information can be very helpful in locating a missing paraglider pilot. You can also use your XC Tracer Maxx II as a search device, as it displays all nearby FANET stations.

Extremely simple

To make operation as simple as possible, we've designed the Vario with just one button. It's incredibly easy to use; you'll be surprised how straightforward it is. You can adjust almost all settings with this single button. And for those final touches, you can always connect the Vario to your computer and fine-tune the configuration file.

Maximum proven

Red Bull X-Alps competitors, world record holders, and countless other paraglider pilots swear by XC Tracer technology. Take a closer look at the photos from the 2021 Red Bull X-Alps; more than two-thirds of the pilots in this competition flew with an XC Tracer. Look for a small black box with a red cord and a red button in the photos—these are all XC Tracer varios! And some pilots even used a Maxx.

Maximum compactness

To make the vario as compact as possible, we spared no expense and developed an internal FLARM antenna. This antenna is so broadband that it works worldwide, whether you're flying in Europe, the USA, Australia, or anywhere else. And to ensure you can fly legally, the vario is CE and FCC certified.

Maximum endurance

The Vario features a built-in lithium-polymer battery that, when fully charged, provides over 70 hours of continuous operation, including data transmission via BLE and recording of IGC and KML files, and of course, operation of the FANET/FLARM radio with sending and receiving FANET/FLARM data. The battery can be recharged as needed using the included USB-C cable.

Maximum lightness

The XC Tracer Maxx II weighs only 120 grams, so it's easy to take along on hike & fly trips.
